This internship is available for a length of between 3 and 6 months, starting on any date between 18 January and 30 April 2027. If you are not available during this period, there may be Summer or Fall Internships available, which open in September 2026.

About the DWS Internship  

The DWS Internship offers a unique and exciting opportunity to gain a wide range of practical experiences through individual projects, speaker sessions and networking events. With strong support from mentors and managers, you will be challenged to grow while gaining valuable insights into the world of Asset Management. About the Team

The Sustainability & Stewardship Office is part of the Platform Sustainability function,  which is  a central hub for various sustainability topics across Product, Investment, and selected cross-functional areas.  

The Sustainability & Stewardship Office is part of the Investment Division and is responsible for the Stewardship activities and the coordination of sustainability-related activities, including disclosures and communication. The objective of stewardship is to safeguard and enhance the long-term financial value of clients’ investments and their financial interests. Our teams include:

  • Team Stewardship – Standards & Processes: This team is responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining the core processes that support our stewardship activities. This includes the process for stewardship standards, engagement and voting. The team also coordinates company dialogues (engagements) for environmental and social (E&S) topics and enhances environmental and social (E&S) standards.
  • Team Stewardship – Governance – the team acts as primary speaker at Annual General Meetings (AGMs) for governance matters, leads governance-related engagements and is responsible for enhancing governance standards.
  • Team Stewardship –Voting: This team is responsible for the end-to-end execution and oversight of shareholder voting at national and international AGMs. This includes applying voting policies, coordinating operational processes, managing voting platform(s) and service providers and providing oversight of controls and interactions with key stakeholders across the voting chain. The team also contributes to voting-related company engagements and helps ensure that engagement insights are reflected in voting decisions where relevant.
  • Team Disclosures & Communications: This team is responsible for coordinating external disclosures and reports and managing sustainability set-up at our AGM as well as sustainability-related regulatory inquiries. The team also coordinates and aligns activities across the Investment Division.  

As our DWS Intern, you will:

As an intern, you’ll gain hands-on experience at the intersection of finance and sustainability, working with international teams that influence companies through dialogue, voting, and transparency. You will be part of a dynamic environment where investment decisions go hand in hand with long-term responsibility.  

  • Support the enhancement of our Stewardship processes
  • Support the preparation, execution and documentation of engagement activities as well as the execution of votes  
  • Contribute to the preparation of external disclosures and communications  
  • Help align sustainability-related activities across different teams  

The Team is looking for:

  • Upper Intermediate German (B2) and advanced English language skills
  • Interest in corporate governance, proxy voting, and stewardship practices
  • Basic understanding of ESG principles, corporate governance, and sustainability frameworks is beneficial but not required  
  • Ability to analyze data, conduct research, and synthesize information clearly  
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and German
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work collaboratively across teams
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Office (Outlook / Excel / PowerPoint)

Eligibility

  • Upper Intermediate German (B2) and advanced English language skills.
  • Bachelor student graduating in 2027 or 2028 OR Master student graduating in 2028, OR Gap year between your bachelor and masters degree.
  • Less than 12 months of full-time relevant work experience (excluding internships).
  • Availability for a full-time 3 – 6 month internship; see start date for more details.
