**Intermediate (B2) level German required for this role**

Start Date  

Internships in Germany are between 3 months and 6 months long. You must be available for the entire internship duration.  

You can apply for one of these seasonal intakes: Summer or Autumn. Each intake offers a flexible start date within the timeframes listed below and the internship end date can be outside the timeframe.

  • Summer Intake Start Dates: May 1 – July 31, 2026  
  • Autumn Intake Start Dates: August 1 – December 31, 2026

About the DWS Internship

The HR department at DWS plays a pivotal role in fostering a dynamic and inclusive work environment as well as driving employee engagement and development across the organization. The DWS HR department is looking for interns in the following areas:

  • Performance & Reward
  • Labour Relations
  • HR Relationship Management

Performance & Reward Team

The Performance & Reward Team is dedicated to supporting the development, implementation and maintenance of the Performance and Compensation strategy for DWS, fostering the growth and advancement of employees within the firm. We focus on multi-faceted strategic and regulatory activities across the Performance and Compensation landscape and work in close cooperation with several contacts across HR and Service Providers, as well as various internal DWS stakeholders.

As our DWS Intern, you will:  

  • Help design and develop communication material for employees and managers in English and German
  • Analyze internal and external compensation data to ensure market-aligned pay practice
  • Help create HR-related reports and presentations for business representatives, workers council and committees

Labour Relations Team

The Labour Relations Team (2-3 members) is in constant contact with our German works council. We negotiate works agreements (e.g., on new IT systems, mobile working, compensation issues, etc.). Maintaining good and constructive relationships with our employee representatives and finding compromises between the interests of the employer and the workforce makes up a large part of our work. This requires both knowledge of German labor law and the necessary empathy for the needs of employees and business representatives.  

We also support the business representatives and our HR Relationship Managers with all German employment law-related questions.

As our DWS Intern, you will:

  • Support with daily tasks, e.g., conducting research, joining relevant meetings (e.g., works council), facilitating labor law training for managers
  • Draft emails on various topics
  • Assist in handling labor law inquiries
  • Help develop company regulations

HR Relationship Management

The HR Relationship Management Team is responsible for the operational personnel business of DWS. We accompany managers and employees throughout the entire live cycle and advise on personnel-relevant and labor law issues. In Germany, eight HR Relationship Managers work closely with the global HR Relationship Managers as well as the HR Product, Reward, Recruiting, Talent & Development teams

As our DWS Intern you will: 

  • Accompany the whole employee life cycle
  • Research and assist with operational topics
  • Execute administrative tasks, e.g. HR Help cases, presentations, checklists
  • Support in advising manager and employees
  • Assist with specific HR projects

Eligibility

    • Intermediate (B2) German and advanced English skills
    • Currently studying for a bachelor's or master's degree and in your penultimate year of study, OR on a gap year between your bachelor's and masters degree
    • Less than 12 months of full-time relevant work experience (excluding internships)
    • Availability for a full-time 3 - 6 month internship; see start date for more details
    • Strong MS Office skills, especially Excel and PowerPoint
    • Strong communication skills in German and in English
    • Team player with a curious mind
