About the DWS Internship  

The DWS Internship offers a unique and exciting opportunity to gain a wide range of practical experiences through individual projects, speaker sessions and networking events. With strong support from mentors and managers, you will be challenged to grow while gaining valuable insights into the world of Asset Management. This is an excellent way to determine whether a career in Financial Services & Asset Management meets your personal aspirations.    
 
Subject to performance, successful interns may be offered a place on the DWS Graduate P.A.C.E. Program the following year. 
 

About the team

DWS Infrastructure is one of the leading global investors in infrastructure managing EUR25.6bn (as of 30th June 2024), with investment teams across public infrastructure securities, and private infrastructure equity and private infrastructure debt

The Infrastructure Private Equity team manages EUR13.1bn of assets across 6 separate European infrastructure funds. The Infrastructure Investment team was established in 2005 and was one of the first private investors in infrastructure in Europe, and is headquartered in London with offices in Frankfurt, Milan and Madrid. The infrastructure team invests in assets and companies providing essential services, offering investors with down-side protection and attractive returns throughout the economic cycle

Current and past investments of the team include renewable electricity generation assets, airports, buses, waste treatment assets, datacenters, toll roads and ports. Notable current and past investments include SAVE (the operator of amongst others Venice Airport), Stagecoach (one of the largest bus companies in Europe), Peel Ports (the second largest owner and operator of ports in the UK, including the Port of Liverpool) and Streem Group (the second largest lessor of freight railcars and tank containers in Europe)

As an Infrastructure Private Equity Intern you will:  

  • Support the process of finding and screening new investment opportunities across Europe and assist in the evaluation of such companies
  • Assist the due diligence and acquisition process for new investments
  • Learn about the commercial assessment and other merits of investment opportunities based on analysis of the risk and return fundamentals
  • Learn about and assist in the construction and review of financial models (such as “DDM” and “DCF” ) in order to provide valuation analysis
  • Assist in the management and supervision of existing investments, working closely with senior management teams and other members of the DWS team on business planning, company investment projects and commercial opportunities
  • Support the monitoring and reporting of investments to clients
  • Assist and learn about fundraising for future investment funds
  • Attend “Investment Committee” team meetings where investment decisions are made.
  • Shadow and assist team members with other day-to-day tasks for typical for professionals in Private Equity

What we are looking for:  

  • Must hold valid right to work in the UK from June through to August 2026.  
  • Must be available to work full-time (including a minimum of 2 days per week in the London office) from June through to August 2026.  
  • Must be enrolled and on track to graduate from a bachelor’s or master’s degree in 2027.  
  • Must possess less than 12 months of full-time, relevant work experience (excluding other internships). Previous internship(s) in Investment Banking / M&A, Private Equity, Consulting or Accounting would be beneficial but not essential.
  • Must be fluent in English. Additional European languages are beneficial but not essential.  
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, attention to detail and ability to work quickly to a high standard are all valuable skills.
  • Experience using both Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Powerpoint.
